Denmark has a history of district heating going back over 100 years. We have kept up with developments and, in 2007, district heating covered over 60% of Denmark’s heat requirement.

In 2011, Central Denmark Region received the District Heating Award for its extraordinary effort to promote the use of renewable energy and district heating in the region as well as for backing several visionary projects that support conversion to renewable energy technologies. Most recently, a common strategic energy plan has been implemented for the entire region of central Denmark, linking the district heating plants in the eastern part of the region.

Central Denmark Region has a number of fantastic, inspiring and unique district heating plants, such as Studstrupværket, Maabjergværket, Skive Fjernvarme and Brædstrup Fjernvarme. All enjoy international attention.
